Steve Ernst

Elder & Children's Pastor

My faith journey:

I was born and raised in Setauket, Long Island, New York. I trusted Christ when I was 23 years old in 1981. My wife, Pat and I were in the first year of our marriage when we both answered an alter call in a small church in Cortland, New York. This was a small central New York college town in which we both attended the Cortland State University College of New York. There I completed my undergraduate degree in education. We attended a small church while in Cortland where I served as elder and was involved in many leadership roles. During this time, I taught students in various grades from 4th through 12th at a Christian school founded by the church. We then moved to Central Florida in 1992. I served in church family ministry and life group leadership while living in Seminole county for the first 15 years in Florida. I have been teaching elementary school in both Seminole and Osceola counties for the past 30 years, during which time I earned my master’s degree in education from the Lockheed Martin UCF Math and Science Scholars program. We moved to Osceola County where I served as an elder at First Baptist Church Saint Cloud. During Covid, we began attending Grace Pointe (then meeting as “Church at the Lakefront”). For the past three years Grace Pointe Church has been our church home and has truly been a blessing. God blessed us with two sons and three grandchildren.
