My faith journey:

I was born into a Christian home and was raised in church all my life. I grew up with my mother reading Bible stories to my sister and myself every night before bedtime. Once we began to learn to read, my mother would have us practice reading by reading the Bible stories back to her. This laid the foundation that God would use for both my salvation and to create a strong theological foundation for my faith in Him. My initial step of faith in Christ came when I questioned my mother about why a neighborhood child (with whome I had been playing and my mother had to make leave because of his inappropriate behavior toward me) acted the way he did. She explained that people, all people, were naturally bad and selfish and that this could only be fixed by accepting Jesus as my savior and allowing Him to change me. I knew how I felt about the neighborhood child and that that was how God saw me. This prompted me to ask my mother what I needed to do to accept Jesus as my savior and she led me through the plan of salvation. I prayed the sinner’s prayer. From this point on God was continually working in my life to reveal Himself to me and provide me with a deep and solid Biblical foundation of theology. He accomplished this by putting people in my life that would cause me to ask questions that, when answered by the spiritual leaders that He had provided, would create a strong Biblically sound foundation of theology that has stayed with me thorough my life. An important and practical part of these beliefs is the idea of stewardship. Most often people simply associate stewardship with money, however, God led me to the realization that it applies to every aspect of my life from time, talents, and Biblical understanding. This has led me to try to use whatever God has given me to serve and meet the needs of other believers through both teaching and physically serving in my local church body from the time I was a teenager when these opportunities became available until the current time.
